evenin all,

wee question on a fox vanilla r shock (shock is I think the 06 version), wondering is someone may be able to advise or help on this?

I've the above shock on a cannondale gemini frame. Shock was serviced last year by dirtline and I had them fit a new 550 rated spring. I've checked the spring is the correct rating for my weight etc so touch wood all should be ok with that.

whenever I'm out on the bike and I start hitting the rough stuff I can hear & fell what I can only describe as a banging/clunking sound coming from the shock (this has been going on since I had the shock serviced)

my initial thoughts were, I've got the wrong rating of spring or that I've got the pre-load ring tightened too much.......however after doing a bit of digging on the WWW I've discovered that this problem may be caused by the shocks bushings being slightly too large for the bolt that holds the shock in place....anyhow I can't find anywhere that states how the problem was resolved.

looking to find out:

a. if anyone here has seen this problem?
b. if so did you manage to get it resolved?

many thanks troops for any info on this one.

cheers 🙂

Hold the bolt where the shock joins the swing arm and gently lift the seat up and down. Do the same with the point where it joins the front triangle. If you can feel play here then it's probably the bushings. Order replacements from betd, jobs a goodun.
