I’ve unexpectedly received a brand new 175mm fox transfer dropper and remote to replace a warrantied raceface turbine (great service by silverfish for this).
Prior to this I was thinking of buying a 210mm one up dropper to replace the race face one.
So do I sell the fox transfer and buy a one up or keep the it? I’ve read that the transfer is reliable and quite good so all positive. I’ve already got a ztto lever that I could use with the one up so cost wise i probably wouldn’t lose out and I do like the idea of having a 210mm dropper. Third world problems!
I have the 210 one up dropper and it is finicky to set up and if you have it slammed like i had it is really sensitive to the tightness of the seat collar, so much so that i couldnt get the seat collar tight enough to hold the seatpost without it impeding the drop on the post.
I have now changed the travel to 190mm using the shims provided, which in fairness was very easy to do and put the post higher so the seat collar isnt tightening where the shim is inside the dropper post.
I have read that other users have removed the shim and sanded them down very finely on the inside to take a few mm out of the shim to allow proper tightening.
If you google OneUp Dropper issues you will find loads of online resources telling you what they have done.
Since i changed it to 190 i havent had any issues and its still a lot of drop on a post, but if you dont mind a little bit of fiddly set up then go for the one up - if you want a hassle free post then stick with the Fox.
Conversely, and just in the interests of balance, I have the 210mm One Up and found it remarkably straight forward to instal and no issues with clamping.
Blackflag - did you have the post slammed all the way in the seat tube?
210mm OneUp here & no issues at all.
Blackflag – did you have the post slammed all the way in the seat tube?
Not quite. There is about 5-10mm of post lower above the clamp.
My Transfer is 2 years old and I've never given it a second thought. It just works. So far anyway
Riding both at the moment. MY transfer is >3 years old. I had it serviced after a year and was told it was pretty much spotless so hadn't been a real need. Much better than Reverbs IMO.
the One Up I've had much less time but it goes up and down as it should and seems robust. I'm not yet completely convinced by the super long drop as the saddle starts to get in the way again for me. going 125-150 was a big bonus but I've a feeling for me 175 might be the sweet spot.
Got 2 one ups. Brilliant kit
Cheers all. I was still pretty torn but seen as I already had the transfer and because I’m inpatient and wanted to go for a ride this weekend I fitted it tonight. It goes up and down and feels better than my previous raceface turbine so all good. The extra drop would have been nice but I’m sure I’ll soon forget!
I've had both, the fox is nicer to use but isn't worth twice the price. Seeing as you already have it, I would keep it. Note: I've also had the issue with clamping a slammed Oneup, adding 10mm of shims sorted it (at the loss of 10mm drop obvs).

Not quite. There is about 5-10mm of post lower above the clamp.
Mine was completely slammed when i had issues but now its about 10mm above the seat tube its fine.
ive had my 210 drop one up post for about 3 weeks now, it was a doddle to get set up and its a pleasure to use. I've owned a fox dropper and it was faultless too, really can't imagine why anyone would pay double for fox though.
