Hello, just spent the last hour fitting my fox transfer dropper to my orange stage evo. The post is brand new bought from probike kit. To my disappointment it feels like a 2 year old reverb, rough up and down and doesn't always fully extend. I have filled out a warranty form and will be sending it off tomorrow. Really disappointed and surprised, I went with the transfer as they always seem to be thought of as a reliable post. Have I just been unlucky?
Mine's still buttery smooth 3-4 (however long ago it was since Mojo and Fox royally fell out and dumped a load of stock cheap) years later. Sounds like you've got a lemon.
It’s probably not this but have you checked:
- it’s not the seat clamp slightly over tight that’s restricting the post?
- the cable is pulling quite enough to properly open the valve?
I have torqued the seat clamp to 6nm but will check the cable, it does work it's just really rough and takes a lot to push it down. I know I slated reverbs in my initial post but my axs reverb has been on two bike over the last 14 months and still feels fantastic.
The fact it was bought from probike kit just before they went bump for £200 is making me think they got some old stock. Hopefully silverfish will get it working properly
6nm does sound a lot for a seat post collar
I'd try the seat post collar a bit looser, I've had bikes where I have to have the collar so loose that it just barely keeps the post from slipping to ensure the dropper worked smoothly.
Agree with Big-Bud, I'm 78kg and torque my seat clamp to 3nm.
Cheers for the tips. It works adequately now I have adjusted the torque on the seat collar, fox recommend 5.1nm, I'm at 4.5 now and the rough feeling has gone. Happy with that, thanks
