Hi again
Recently bought a used Scott Genius 700.
It has the twinlock on the rear shock and I can't tell the difference much between modes.
I've adjusted the sag and rebound etc, but the shock doesn't get anywhere near locked out when in lockout mode.
In Traction (trail) mode it doesn't seem that different from descend mode.
I have a short travel fox shock with CTD on another bike and the difference is obvious between modes on that.
Do you think the shock is kaput, and does anyone have any advice on how to fix?
Thanks again
🙂
Not enough to cable pull?
If in open mode you can pull the outer cable by the lever and fel it move awaybfrom the lever then add some turns to the barel adjuster till you get hard lockout.
We have had one failed nude. Same symptoms as you describe. Repair was simple for the service guys but parts were special order from fox.
Although I do seem to remember some lower spec bikes may not have had a complete lock. But you say genius 700 as in premium/tuned?..not 710/20/30/40/50?
Thanks BB
Yep it's the tuned.
Using the lever it does appear to move the disk all the way clockwise and anticlockwise, settling in the middle with the markers lining up for trail mode.
Does that mean it needs a service?
Thanks
Sounds like it. you cant pull the cable any further can you?
Sure fire way is if there's zero travel difference between the descend and trail modes. It is clear how the stroke length is reduced in trail when giving it the 'bounce test'
