Fox gold? Using it everywhere?

I have a full bottle of fox gold 20W.

However I now have a lyrik and a rockshox shock. Any reason why I can't use this for lower leg service and air can service?

Not clued up on what the actual difference is between between the different oils and would be nice to just have one for everything. Combined with SRAM butter maybe I can cover all servicing

By the time you buy the wee rockshox bottles it's quite expensive. And my last one just pissed it out everywhere because for some reason the SRAM bottles are not watertight?

Basically the question is, does the stuff in the lowers/can do anything other than just lubricate the seals. Just occasionally it does- frinstance I think (could be wrong) that the Fox Grip damper might use the same ptfe-infused oil in the damper and leg?

But other'n that, fork legs especially are unfussy as long as it's something rubber and plastic safe, and non-swelly. I used diesel engine oil in my forks for years frinstance.

Could be a seal compatibility issue. If you used the Gold lube on the original, not the later low friction seals, it'd weep past them.

I think it's the best lowers oil because it's so stick yand stringy. Seems to stay in place longer. I used it in loads of Rockshox forks (Zeb, Lyrik, Reba). Not had a problem yet!

I use Supergliss 1000 in Rockshox lowers. It's a really sticky slideway oil and very close to Fox 20. I'd be happy using it in my fork lowers.

By that logic, there's no reason why it couldn't also be used as a substitute for Fox Float Fluid in an air can.

I'm not sure how significant this will be, but not al "W" numbers are measured in the same way. I understand that Fox oils tend to be a lighter oil like-for-like. ie., a Fox 20W will be lighter than a Rockshox 20W.

This. Fox gold needs the special seals because it's so sticky normal seals don't wipe it off. But it rather sounds like Rockshox have their own equivalent, so maybe they'd work. But maybe not.

I need to give my Fox forks a major service, so I'll be changing seals and getting some gold.

Personally I think that the gold is too thick for uk winters, tend to use thinner, more similar to the ptfe you use in the damper leg on foxes. On RS and everything else I use motul 7.5w
