Hi ive just won an auction for a set of 140mil foats black ...brand new the seller put them on starting at 199, i bid and won, there was no other intrest which strikes me as odd in the last 10 seconds a 2nd bid bumped the price up only to 209, i have sent message for an invoice and better pics..no reply as yet.Im anxious as to know if i might be gettin scammed. seller stated that forx did not fit bike yet steerer lenghth is 193mm tapered..very little detail in add.

any advice welcome.

Bit late now to start asking for pics and worrying about details

Pay by Paypal and then you have cover.

Look fine to me if this is them (Stretching the definition of 'new' though...'Brand New Nearly')...

Have you ever bid on ebay before? That's pretty much what people do - wait until the very last second and try to snipe in the last highest bid which no one else can respond to - it happens on just about every popular item which is an auction.

but as mentioned, bit late now to be asking for further pics. If they are the ones above, they look fine, though his description isn't the most detailed. But it's people putting up crap pics with crap descriptions where the bargains are to be had with ebay these days.

use PayPal and you should be fine.

Feedback seems fairly standard stuff, item looks a bit tired for ‘new’ but it’s a decent price even if it has done a couple of miles. The box is there suggesting its not nicked which would be my biggest concern. I would go on with it as it looks ok, Paypal and ebay give you some options if it is a scam.

193mm isn't that long, and tapered steer might not fit if he has 1-1/8 only...

I only ever bid in the last minute, last 10s if I feel my internet speed and clicks are fast enough to win. There is little point bidding at the 6 day mark on ebay, it only raises the price!

I can't be doing with sellers who type L@@K in the title, who in their right mind would think that'd improve the chance of a sale. Unless its some kind of Jedi mind trick I'm missing?!

Price probably reflects the fact that they are tapered with a short steerer and QR - no that popular a combo

right got ya, new frames an oversized headtube take all jobbie, and cant change existing wheels decent enough for now,xtr on dt 455s, so QR it is and steerer lenghth still leaves me a bit to play with.but i see your point...does anyone know rrp on these?

Probably OEM ones ie they've come off a full bike. RRP £569 or there abouts for just the forks at your lbs, altho All terrain have new 2012 32 float 140 RL at £399 at the mo.
Seems legit to me tho.

surely no different to shortening a RS (very similar construction) in which case its a straighforward job if you know what youre doing (take off lowers, remove base plate and shaft in spring leg, fit 20mm spacer on leg, then reassemble). Recently done this on a pair of Lyriks to work on a 5" frame, and I regularly service our collection RS Reba, Revelation, Lyrik and Fox Float they are almost identical in build and design.

My reaction to £70 is ERK 😯 but I dont know what shops charge for work, it is effectively a lowers service with a bit more work.

Wouldnt worry about being ripped off if you paid paypal youre well protected and they always find in favour of the buyer.
