Hi chaps,
I've chipped the shaft on my Kashima CTD and need to replace it, was thinking of a Float X.
Has anyone been riding one with thoughts on it? Be interested to know how different it feels to a standard Factory CTD.
cheers

personally I would go with the CCDB inline
I'd speak to TFT they do a shaft in the black finish same as Pikes & will service the shock all in for around 140, mate had his done & very impressed with it.
I had a float X on my Bronson & it was slightly plusher & small bump sensitivity was better but I've tried a CCDB climb switch version & was very impressed, much better than a Float x
Cheers Mark
Depends on a lot of things really. I had a Float X on my last bike, and it was lovely. Set up by Mojo, and still just the 3 CTD settings, with a rebound. The climb setting worked really well, and I never thought about it.
I have a CCDB Air CS on my new bike, and i'm 'still' trying to get it set up. I imagine once it's there, it will feel great, but there is a lot of faffing around to get it right for me, and that's using basepoints from the like of TF & CC.
The Fox, I bolted it on, pumped it up to the right air pressure & off I went. Sorted.
I do like the Factory CTD Kashima that's on there already (it's a Five29), just wondering if _upgrading_ to a Float X would have a positive impact on small bump seneitivity and reduce the shock packing down on longer runs.
The other question is whether it's worht twice the cost of a service...

the DB inline has around 40% more oil than standard shocks and TBH is pretty easy to set up. small bump sensitivity is greater than the single tube shocks.
FLoat X is £515 or in pushed guise £565 a CCDB inline is £360 or the CCDB air £460 if you really need the extra oil that the piggyback provides.
The CCDB CS version I tried was on a new Five 650B & they come with base settings for the bike's geometry & it was very impressive & I thought far better than the float x & I'm a fan of Fox generally, also worth noting is it has new 36's on it & again far better than the Kashima float ctd's on my Bronson, the bike just seemd to hug the ground and the grip was superb.
+1 for the CCDB inline
I've got one on an AM 29er myself (albeit 4-bar suspension) and it feels sublime.
Just got a Float X on my Rune.
I'm a person that hates fiddling with levers and likes to get the suspension setup and leave it. I generally dont use lockout or dual/multi position forks etc.
CTD switch, now I wasnt particularly interested in this, but having tried it out, its actually really really good! The climb mode is excellent for long climbs and helps with the extra weight of my new frame. Trail has 3 positions of compression damping, so nice and easy to setup.
I'm a little worried about Descend mode though. Its lovely and plush, but I do go through the travel a little too easily. I'm running 16mm/28% sag (180psi). Thats on local trails which have small jumps. I might have to invest or make my own volume reducer, like I had to with my RP23.
I had the option of CCDBair with my frame but chose not to. I didnt want the extra faff and weight (not a lot I know). I was happy with previous fox shocks (not forks!).
