Hi
I have a Scott Spark RC900 and over the years have added little upgrades. I’m looking to refresh the fork. It’s currently a Fox SC Float 32 Performance. How does this compare against a Fox Step-Cast Performance XC 2023.
Are they both XC racing forks?
Cheers

Yep, XC race forks, go for the 32 if XC racing is all you do, 34 if you do a bit of trail riding as well, it’ll be a bit stiffer, if a little heavier.

Thanks. Sonos the step-cast a step up to what I have already?

Yeah. The step cast is the top of the line xc chassis, does it say what damper it comes with?

SC means Step-cast.
The 32sc got a revision in 2020 making it a claimed 20% stiffer. (If that's your question as I don't know what year your spark is) [edit, likely irrelevant as the spark hasn't run a 100mm option for over a decade and way before SC was launched]

The 34sc as above is stiffer again and also available in 120mm. The 32sc only in 100mm.

You will see 34step cast forks on plenty of world Cup race bikes so definately a race fork that's also good for decent trail rides.

Now, your other issue is that even though your sparks original fork says performance, it actually has a fit4 damper.
An aftermarket performance fork only has a grip damper so you'd need to source a grip remote top cap if you want to retain the trackloc functionality.
Grip damper is actually less sensitive to fit4 for an exact trail position but I'm unsure off the top of my head if the twinloc lever needs any small parts adjustments

@bearback, I see. Mine is the spark rc900 team from 2018. It’s defo 100mm and is also an SC fork. It also has grip written on the remote, but I see the points you are making. Looks to me like the newer one will be an improvement and I’ll still be able to sell mine to soften the blow of the purchase.

I’ve found my way here after seeing your other post regarding information on Fox forks remotes. I’m the seller of the fork you’ve asked me a question about on eBay. Is the spec listed above from the fork on your bike already? If so I thinks there is another potential problem in that the spec listed above uses a push to lock remote whereas the 34 SC I’m selling is a push to unlock. To me this means you might have a set up which is locking the shock and unlocking the fork or vice versa which doesn’t sound good? Not sure if it could be adapted.

Another thing I could have suggested when you asked the question on eBay is that I found Fox very helpful when I asked questions but I find it unlikely that you’ll get an answer today before the listing ends.
