You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Haven’t been on here for years as my biking activity declined..... Fast forward to lockdown and my Santa Cruz is getting some long overdue TLC, including servicing the shock. A bit of a problem bough - I can’t work out how to extract the mount from the lower eye of the Fox Float RL AVA so I can slide the sleeves off the body. It’s a single piece in a DU (??) bush, I’ve searched the Fox site but it doesn’t show this setup.
Anybody any suggestions which won’t wreck the bushes??
Put one side in a vice and pull and see what happens?
Tried a dead-blow mallet?
If it's the standard alu top hat bushes into the DU bush they simply pull out of either side. The DU bush is one piece and is a press fit into the shock eye. I've never struggled to get any of mine out. There are a variety of heavy duty bushes available & disassembly is different.
Can you post a picture of what it is you're having the problem with?
If its an older type one removal method;
Is this part of the linkage from the frame? My Yeti has a linkage through one of the eyes rather than top hats, and there is a rather complex set of Yeti drifts to remove it, and then put it all back together with the bearings in the correct place.
