Took the wife's 32s (2012 Float 140 RLC FIT Factory) apart this afternoon for a service & found loads of lowers oil had made it's way into the air spring. No wonder she wasn't getting full travel.
I found something posted on pinkbike saying to fix this issue the small foam seal that needs to be replaced with a rubber one. Do I just replace it with another air seal so there's 2 on there? Her air spring looks like below...

Looks like the rubber o-ring seal has failed, you can even see a notch in it - replace that one. Simples.
I think the temp fix is to just remove the foam ring but I understand there is a part from fox (a proper scraper seal?) that you can replace the foam ring with.
Sounds like a common problem with all the float forks (and talas I believe, but that's harder to work on). Internet-word is its fixed for 2012/2013 but I've no experience of that yet.
Ps there is a long thread on mtbr forums about it too. Look for oil migration issue or similar.
Mrs rondo here; thanks for the info TRW. Any ideas where you can get the scraper seal from? Direct from Fox only or can someone like mojo supply them?
Rickon - not my actual air spring. Used a picture I found online. My seal is in perfect condition.
Yep, its a well known issue with Fox forks 2010-2012 era. [url=http://]Here's[/url] the MTBR thread on it.
I just serviced my F32 RL and all 30ml of the oil had migrated to above the air spring - the bottom of the fork was completely dry.
I've tried the 'remove the foam ring' fix for now, but also want to get my hands on the new seals - so anyone know where to get them?
I'm going to call mojo on monday. The fork's less than 12 months old & if it's a known issue to Fox, it should be a warranty fix. I'll let you know how I get on.
I'm pretty sure mojo can supply as I understand they swap out the foam ring when a fork comes in for service.
Give mojo a ring. they sent me one out free of charge. Its a rubber scraper seal that you replace the foam one with. Mine are working fine now with it in. a quick fix is just take the foam seal out it lets the oil run back down into the lower.
Scraper seal in the post & on it's way to me FOC from mojo.
I'm in Oz and have to get the new seals thru my LBS. But they've never heard of the problem and don't know what to order. So, can anyone help me with the part number for the new seal kit? Thanks.

Thanks, but couldn't find it anywhere on there, just dust seal kits and what I assume is the upper air seal, but not the new lower air scraper seal that replaces the foam ring.

Guess I should mention my forks are 2011 F32 RL O/B 125mm, as no doubt there's different seal kits for different models!
There are several different spec. scrapers for short and long travel 32mm forks and 36's, best to call Mojo and they'll provide the seal you need 😀

Thanks, but as mentioned above, I'm in Australia, and the local distributor isn't as switched on as Mojo, and has re-directed me to the LBS - who in turn doesn't have a clue what to do. So, I'm having to step them thru the process, first hurdle of which is to tell'em what to order for my forks... hence me hoping someone has the part number for the new scraper seal on a F32 125mm travel.
Ok those should be a 130mm air assm reduced to 125mm with an internal spacer so the code will be 036-01-053 for the 130mm scraper or if it's an non spacered 'special' it maybe 036-01-054, which is the short spec. one. If you're really stuck I can post you one 😀

Great thanks! I'll assume its a 'special' as it came on a 2011 Giant Trance, and I know Fox make custome sizes/colours for the bike manufacturers...
Looking at the Fox master parts lists, you only get 130mm air assm.s so it's likely to be spaced down (incidentally this uses a 036-01-018 u cup air seal on the air piston if you're changing that too)
All the above comes with a caveat that that's all the info that is available to me at the moment, so may not be correct and they maybe special 😉 😀

At the moment I'd just be happy if I can just get the scraper, but the u cup would be a bonus. I'll aim for the 036-01-53 then, on the asumption its a spaced down 130.
I'll run that part number by the folks over here, but if I don't get any joy from them I may well be taking you up on your kind offer to supply me one!
