We are building up a few demo bikes next week and just deciding on the forks and quite fancy the new Fox 140 15mm forks. What is the general opinion on 15mm?
Your real world feedback would be welcome.
Recntly swapped from previous Talas 32's, and the difference is definitely noticable, certainly over ruts and roots. The other bonus is i've found it quicker to remove/replace the wheel than with a normal QR, no faffing with the tension, just screw in until the lever's vertical and flip it up, job done.
Much better than 9mmQR IMO. Just switched from 9mm and the difference is huge. Obviously not as stiff as 20mm but i don't recall Fox ever saying it was. As a means of doing away with QR it's done the job.So much quicker to do up also.
I found my old 20mm Pike's too stiff, some flex is a good thing despite what most say.
i'm running 2009 Van 32 RLC's with the 15mm BT on my Ti456.
I previously had fitted the 2009 TALAS 32's on 9mm QR and the difference is noticeable. it really does tighten up the front end, perhaps too much for my liking on the 456, and I'd say there's little difference between the 15mm BT and the 20mm BT on my TALAS 36's.
personally, i wish they'd just gone to 20mm, as the weight penalty is negligible and then i could swap wheels much easier 🙄
if you want the security and added stiffness ,(most folk will), then go for it as there's a definite increase in both.
HTH.
Real world feedback!!! LOL.
Not a chance on here.
TJ - that's right - I'm testing in the ether 😯
Very good the one's I've ridden. Stiff and good damping and very easy to get the wheel on and off.
