Having a minor niggle with my fox shock knocking when I'm in climb mode.

I seem to recall something about this not being uncommon? Is it something I should get sorted under warranty or be better to send to a specialist to have it done?

I'd get it done under warranty, I've just had a warranty claim on a CTD and got a complete new shock,

I have had one before knock and it was so ****in annoying whilst climbing, my last one went internally and this one seems a tad better so far, 1 week on.

Mine is doing the same, worse in climb, slightly better in trail and fine fully open. Havent had a chance to get it back to the shop yet.

Mine did that, really quite annoying I only had it a week on a old frame, but it went off to mojo and they returned it saying it was fine! I had a go on a bike in the shop with the same shock and that did the same too

It lasted another week and then I swapped it out for a kashima trail adjust one an the noise was never heard again!

Mojo said they use cheaper internal parts (whatever that exactly means I do no know) on the standard shock

Mine was worse in climb mode but not quite as loud with the rebound set to slowest, but obviously couldn't run it like that for riding sadly

Spoke to dealer and they said to go direct to Mojo.

Assuming I send if off, what's the usual turnaround guys ?
Also, if they come back and say "nothing wrong with it", what's the options ? I don't mind if I have to throw a few quid at a new/used shock, but I don't have any knowledge on what I need to order etc.

my Float X did this..

sent it back to Mojo and they replaced a few internal parts, it was done under warranty and its been fine ever since..

I think it took a couple of days to turn around, same as a normal shock service.. I Phoned them first though before sending it in.

Finally had a chance and a little window in riding and got it whipped out and ready to go off to Mojo, it's shipping to them Monday.

My CTD shock has a weird knocking clunking sensation in climb mode too. You'd swear its play in a bearing or shock eyelet until you check all these things and realise they are fine. So I just live with it now. Off the bike compressing the shock its very obvious, on the bike in climb mode for me its nothing worse that a tiny sensation of something similar to a top out in the shock very occassionally over a rock or something, I generally have more things to worry about climbing, like breathing! So I just forget about it now.

I'm slightly more Anal than that.

It's off the bike and ready to ship tomorrow. If it comes back and they say it's OK etc and don't do anything, the shock will be replaced by another make/model.

Which brings me onto the next debate of how a 190c/c shock would affect the bike considering mine is a 185c/c now. That is, assuming shock measurements are take from eye centre to eye centre ?

There seems to be very few 185's but quite a few 190's. So I may end up needing a 190 if I replace it.

Well that's pretty impressive... Posted it Monday, they received it Tues.... I just had a text telling me it will be delivered back to me tomorrow...

Pretty impressed I must say.

Apparently it's had new seals, new shims and been fully checked and tested... Can't argue with that

Mojo in my experience are without a doubt the best company I've dealt with. Very quick turn around for starters. I managed to scratch my CTD Shock lower body on my pedal pins when removing it from my Meta, told them this, but they still replaced it for free - I think its something like £100 plus.

Back to Weeksy - are you sure the lower shock eyelet is tight - mine worked itself loose leading to a bit of knocking.

Mojo are probably the best company I've dealt with. I managed to scratch the kashima body with a pedal pin, removing the shock from my Meta - owned up to this, but they didn't charge me for a new body.

Back to weeksey - are you sure its not a loose lower eyelet bolt? Mine has worked itself loose on my meta leading to a knocking noise.

Yes mate, quite convinced. The fact they found problems and repaired it tells me I've not quite lost my mind yet.

I'm quite meticulous when it comes to maint/upkeep and checked these sort of things as well as checking for play etc.

Ah, nice one. Form your post wasn't sure if they had actually found an issue although had replaced stuff.

id be surprised if its fixed the clunk, unless its something thyve now sorted from when i sent mine in

they told me it was due to cheaper internal parts being used, and that clunk was there on every EVO shock in the shop

the kashima version got rid of the noise though

If it doesn't fix it, the shock will be removed, stuck on Ebay and replaced with a Monarch RT3 by the weekend. I've had enough of it now hahahaha

i'd had enough of it too, i sent it off (even the lbs thought it was buggered cos of the klunk) and it just came back saying characteristic of the shock due to cheaper internals lol and that it was totally normal

seems as above posts suggest it still is the issue

maybe you got lucky and theyve found a cure/sourced better parts

Jeeez... I thought I'd get more for it than that... I rekon if I got £100 I'd be doing OK ? I was hoping to cover the £150 for the Monarch.

dunno really, the non kashima ones arent very popular, the CTD kashima one was a lot better than the CTD Evo one

plus not many people will be upgrading to a evo one, as they are the base one i guess

Looks like it may be the CCDB in-line then 🙂

Expensive this riding lark at times.

see what it comes back like, I too was optimistic when I got to the shop, but left totally deflated when nothing had actually been done to it lol, at least yours has been taken apart!

All tested on trails today. All good, no noise, works well in all modes of squish.
