Looking to replace the Fox 36 Rhythm on my Levo.

Not sure which way to go, either Fox 38 or Zeb.

I had a 38 performance elite on my Levo expert and whilst it was a good fork to get it feeling good I had pretty much all the setting backed off.

No experience of the Zeb ultimate but had a Lyric ultimate and found it nice and supportive but again had most of the settings backed off.

It there any point in getting a fork with the better dampers?

Thoughts?

Zeb Select, and spending the money saved over a Fox 38 on a custom tune Avalanche damper might be a good option.

This is supposedly addressed in the recently released Rockshox forks.

I've had the Ultimate damper but ended up riding with everything turned down too.
Just got the most basic Zeb with no compression adjustment and I'm perfectly happy with it.

IMO Biggest effect on performance is keeping it well serviced and Rockshox is easier to work on (and cheaper)

List price for the Zeb ultimate was 1022. For the 38 Performance Elite (no real benefit to Kashima IMV) 1239. People I know who've got both prefer the Zeb.

But at 150/160mm travel on the Levo you could just get some top end lyrics (and there are cheap ones about at the moment as new models announced)

Im on a 36 at the moment and find it quite spindly with the combined weight of the bike and me!

I've got the basic Zeb on my e-bile, find it very stiff and easy to service.
Keep the oil fresh and well serviced to maintain any small bump compliance.

I've had a few Lyrik Ultimate and Select Plus forks and found them very similar for the above reasons (just running LSC and HSC backed off anyway).
However, I had a Zeb R and thought it was terrible! It's like RS forgot to install any compression shims at all. It would bottom out harshly off drops even with significantly more air in than advised. I ran the rebound super open so at least the fork has as much travel as possible most of the time. I could have played around with tokens more but I had the suggested amount in, and I sold the bike a few months after buying it. So personally if buying a Zeb, I would get one with compression adjustments.

If that's the case look at the mezzer or the ohlins fork.
