Im looking at the current options to service my 2012Â Fox 36 FIT RLC and 2010 Float 36.
It seems in the time I've worked through my stock pile of seals and oil, the parts have changed.
I used 7.5wt fork oil in the lowers and OE flanged seals.
Apparently, flange is all the rage but a PITA to fit and 20wt 'gold' oil seems to be a thing too. Ive read that going back to the old seals after fitting the new seals can also cause problems.
SKF make seal kits (SKF.MTB36F) of the old style so Im tempted to fit them with some 7.5wt oil.
Anyone separate the waffle and recommend what now works?
Use the new flangeless seals and the gold oil, they are a great combo and have done a lot to increase the service intervals. No reason at all not to use them. 😃
If you go to flangeless I would get an install tool.
The flanged seals were ok to install without the proper tool, flangeless are a pain without the tool.
