a mates 36 vans have a weird issue where they will compress fully when they have no pressure however as soon as any pressure is added to the fork they only have around 40mm and then its like they have bottomed out.

Has anyone seen this before? im going to strip them and have a look but wondered if this is common.

Cheers

Always worth starting with the obvious..

is there a lockout?

is the compression damping wound fully on?

dont know the forks well enough to know if there’s low and high speed damping controls but they’ve got to be worth a twiddle!!

36 vans were coil forks, how is he adding air? Presume you mean 36 floats? If not floats then that's your problem right there.

I really hope he’s inflating a coil fork

My 2nd hand info was wrong, indeed they are floats..........

i am yet to take a look proper look at these forks but just trying to get an idea if anyone has had any similar issues......I suspect there must be air getting trapped somewhere
