Currently got a set of lyriks on my stanton slackline. I bought the lyriks as i wanted to swap them between a pitch i had for alps duties and the slackline. I've got 2 issues with them. One i think the spring is too stiff (and i can't get a yellow one anywhere!). I'm on standard spring and i weigh 66kg. The other is i really think they are far too heavy for the bike and the bike doesn't feel that balanced. Also I think 160 travel is too much.

SO i'm thinking a nice set of 160 floats lowered to 140. This means i can use the 20mm bolt through. Or I could get a set of fox 34's at 140 (although i'd been going down to 15mm maxle)?

What do you think? Will the float 160's drop a load of weight from the coil lyriks? Do i really need 36 or will 34 suffice for a lot of riding

Well your a good few kg's less than me and I find details the 34s are tough enough for anything I'm throwing at them including some dh tracks. The 15mm isn't really an issue.

For a Slackline I'd go 34's - plenty strong enough, although I don't think there's a huge weight saving between them and the new 36's. 15mm axle will be absolutely fine.

Visually I think the 34's will look better with the smaller steel tubing too - but that's a side consideration.

What's more important is have Fox fixed the 34's? Re spring rate and/or damping.

I think any complain too much (nicest forks I've owned) but they're still not as good as the Pikes or Marzocchi 55 RC something Ti that I've used.

PB reviews had been saying the 36s were great and the pre production 34s were improved though?

I just fitted 2015 36's spaced down to 140mm on my BFe. They weigh in at 2kg and don't seem heavy on the bike. Main reason for me going 36 was the straight steerer.

I have a 34 Talas on another bike it is a good fork and would have happily had another if it weren't for the steerer. Not sure the weight saving over the 36 is much.

Surely Pikes is the correct answer? Cheaper, more reliable, better rated...

If you can wait, I'd hang on for the 2016 model which has ditched CTD...

If you are not in a real hurry keep an eye on this page over the next few weeks. Now the 2016 forks are on the way they will probably have the old (2015) demo stuff in the store. I got my 34's there last May or June for about half price(ish) so you could get a good deal on some straight 36's.

From what i'm reading then it depends what year the 34's are and the 36's seem better in all years?

is that the case?

Do the floats have separate low speed and high speed circuits?

Have been looking at 2013 forks for my price range

Am i right in thinking the 34's don't have separate high and low speed compression?
