Has anyone got any fox 34 (2024 My) I’ve got a set on route and it comes with a clumpy QR axle I can see they have some form of cam to tighten up but I’d like just a plain axle on there, is this possible on the 34?

on the 36s with pinch bolts you can get burgtec ones in any colour etc but I can’t seem to see if this is possible on the latest 34s? I just want a simple screw in axle I tighten up to XX nm’s

You want the 'kabolt' axle for the 34s.

Your mad though, I much prefer the QR15 on my 34s to the faff of the pinch bolt on my 36s!

Thanks for info - there’s no pinch bolt though on the 34s so shouldn’t be much of a hassle literally just put the axle in and torque up?

how does the QR work on the 34? Is it a faff setup as it’s got some sort of stupid cam thing on the other leg? Do you have to faff with that everytime you take the wheel out?

It's once and done (well, once per hub but the chance of a different hub being different enough dimensionally that you need to "re-clock" the axle nut are pretty slim.)

The lever operated axle on fox forks is way better than the Kabolt if you're regularly taking the wheel off. the Kabolt looks nice but they're actually a bit shit in comparison IMHO

Agree with above, QR for me every time. Get the forks and see how clumpy the axle is when they arrive.

I’ve never seen 34s with a floating axle, this is all you need, https://www.biketart.com/products/hope-fox-fork-thru-axle?variant=43977636348083

 Burgtec also do them.

Fox QR’s are garbage, a 15mm axle held together with a 6mm threaded rod.

That’s what I’m after I don’t like the QR ones

what I’m not really getting though is what happens with the numbered side with the little dial thing on it if you have a bolt in one?

Nothing, it’s just the captive nut, you could rotate it if you wanted the axle bolt head to sit in a different position.

Ah right ok thanks for that info - so basically that numbered section just remains and I’d just bolt up the bolt through one to torque?

I just assumed It would be removed but no idea as I’ve not run a bolt through before with one of these dial type ones - so literally looks Ignore the dial and just torque up the bolt through ?

If it's the numbered one, I'd totally set it to 18 for max performance.

You only need to torque it once, then put a mark on the head and fork leg with a paint stick- if you can be arsed.

I just do mine up to "that's about right" with a 6mm hex key and then go ride the damn thing, I haven't died yet.
