So i need a 28mm (FOX 34) and a 32mm (FOX 36) ring spanner to remove the air caps on my FOX forks so i can add some tokens, i have used a normal socket before but they do leave marks on the top cap so im not wanting to use one again
Now i dont want to pay £35+ each for the proper FOX ones and i have tried one of the anodised ones on Ebay from a well known company and it snapped on the first use (yes i was turning it the right way!) they refunded me straight away, so have no complaints about their service, they were very aplogetic and understanding
So anyone know of any other 28mm & 32mm spanners that will fit the FOX 36 & 34 air caps and are strong enough to undo ones that may have been done up super tight without breaking the tool?
They are only standard sockets but with a flat face, grind or file a normal one down.
Think mine is from Epic bleed solutions, works and hasn't broken. Not sure if thats where you got yours from though or if yours was from Total bleed solutions who seem to be and EBS rip off....
Epic bleed +1
I did exactly that with an air cap spanner so bought a Unior flat socket for my 36 for not very much - I can see them from various places for £10-15 but a lot of them say available from supplier so might take a while to arrive. No marks on the top cap after use.
18 bikes in Hope list the 28mm as available from stock for 10 and the 32mm as available from supplier for 13

Cheers for the replies
My broken 32mm spanner was not from Epic Bleed Solutions
Having a quick Google it seems i can get some Park tools flat faced sockets for £12.99 for the 32mm and £10.99 for the 28mm, so £24 for the pair which is cheaper than the Epic Bleed Solutions versions who want £12.99 per spanner
Sounds like you need a hex not multi splined socket/spanner.
buy a file - it'll be cheaper and also then you'll have 2 flat sockets and a file
I just ground a regular socket flat and then sanded it super smooth.
The park tool socket set is not cheap at £45ish quid but it's a very nice shiny set and you'll have every size you need (probably...) I needed a socket in a pinch so ponied up for on on amaz0n prime and I'm glad I bought it now.
I've also had no problems with the cheapos from epic bleed solutions, but hey ho..
I've got one of the Epic spanners. In retrospect a flat socket would be better since you can press a socket down onto the bolt as you undo it. The spanner feels a bit awkward.
Buy a Knipex plier wrench then it can fit both sizes and be useful for other jobs. It clamps down so shouldn't make any marks due to slight play like with a socket/spanner.
The spanners need to be used carefully as it's easy to turn it and mark the fork brace if you're not paying attention. I now have the park socket.
A piece of cloth over the caps makes sockets fit nice and tight to reduce marking, it works with threaded bottom brackets too, I've installed anodised Uberbike ones to 40nm without marking the finish.
