So browsing new forks and seen Fox34 17 FIT4 performance and an 18 Grip EVOL performance on sale. Similar prices

Baffled by all the models and changes each year so any users able to tell me which is the better fork and why ??

Coming from a 2015 Pike RC

Evol is better damping but by such a microscopic differential the cost and reliability of the simpler Grip damper makes it so much better overall

...ive read in several reviews. My untouched 32 grip is easily on par with a tuned Reba on the other bike if not better on bigger landings.

As above, the grip damper was intended to be a way of making cheaper fox forks, with a commensurate drop in performance, but it turned out to be very nearly as good performance wise as the FIT damper with just a minor weight penalty.

In my experience the Grip damper outperforms and rockshox offering available.

Where are you seeing them on sale? Would like a boost 29er for the wife's bike.
