Welcome to the wholly unsanctioned STW forum competition, "Colorway my rig"- first prize: Asenseofsatisfactionthatatleastonepersonlistenstoyouropinion. Yay!

Gary Fisher Rig to be precise. Acquired off here in the early monsoon season and has had a few refinements. I must add it is still very much a work in progress; definitely needs a new stem, i'd like a carbon post, the cranks are a bit fugly, steerer is not cut to size, etc, etc...

It has a crappy black paint job which i want to sort out, so here's the 0 million dollar question- what colorway?

Someone will be along shortly to moan about the use of the word colourway...

Anyway. Kawasaki Green and everything else black.

That's the idea.

It's in the small print that anyone impervious to irony is immediately disqualified. 😉

"colorway" would at least have had some US-idiot authenticity to it.

To used "colourway", not even as a noun, but as a verb...WTF?

I am almost shaking.

I love the sound of the seagulls too...

Colourless is tempting... lacquered raw frame?

I've done some stripes on a frame using masking tape and layers of spray paint, but how does one go about tartan!? Who makes tartan paint...?

I think that once you have sorted the colorway and added some finishing kit to your cockpit you can proudly add your steed to your quiver.

The edit function has been used; The neologism is now correctly in its standard American form.

If I'm going to take the p*ss, i should get it right.

I agree, but to return to the original point, how to make my rig stand out in my quiver? Colorway wise, i don't feel obligated to paint it black just to fit in with the rest of my stable.

Thing is, Al makes a good point. At least it is authentic to the words etymology now. Stick with the 'ou' spelling.

can't spec a colorway until we know the type of riding that rig is all about, dogg - aggressive XC, perchance ? Gnarrbimbling ? nah, it's a full-on raceblade isn't it !

sparkly pink with rainbows

OK I've stopped shaking.

OP have you no ideas at all? The bike is primarily black bar red hubs and silver cranks (WWYT?)

The coloured hubs will make the bike look shit irrespective of frame colour.

Go get a tin of Heinz beans out the cupboard, frame color sorted headtube logo sorted some silver components and hint of red. Classy bean based bike. My pleasure 😀

Sparkly pink with ribbons sounds gooood...

I've got some brown grips and a saddle, so i'm thinking of a bimblegnarr retro-look, but it will be used for some winter racing, so it needs to be a retro-bimblegnarr-VO2max-raceblade in disguise? ❓

Use of the word "colourway": fail.

Thank the lord it's a Gary Fisher, otherwise I was about to berate you calling a bike your "rig" too.

Black cranks to finish it off. Spend the cash saved on beer.

Purple, and snap the top of the seat tube off, that's the look for Rigs.

Colour-match the mud on the downtube.

It'll never look dirty again.

Most paint shops stock it, if it's not on display you have to ask for it....

Sorry about the doors, I'm also amazed no-one had picked that up...

I'd thought of green, anywhere between real green and British racing...

Second thought was to do it in cream, or taupe if you will- as it's a GF, it could have light blue and orange stripes near the head tube. (29er crew colours)

I like the idea of checkerboard- could be selectively done along sections of top, seat and down tubes?
