Nonsense.

I'd be astounded if Visit Scotland don't fund the bid again. Fort William World Cup is a huge tourism revenue generator for them, and in fact at World Travel Market last year (the world's biggest travel industry show), their head of tourism marketing featured it with Edinburgh Festival and 6 Nations home matches as a highlight.

Seem to remember GMBN pretty much started the rumour on a video, or at least repeated something that then spiralled into "big news".

Isn't the quickest way to check by looking at when the major hotels are booked out?

FW have invested  bit of money in the biking side of things, their lass that does the marketing has shown them just how MTB money stacks up against winter sport money, and it's not the way they thought it was.

and it’s not the way they thought it was.

Which way did they think it was?

TBA would hazard a guess and say 8th-9th June 2019  https://www.nevisrange.co.uk/activities/world-cup-downhill/

Was that just from greater visitor numbers using the gondola? I'm curious as to how they work that other than volume of visitors.

I'm guessing she's looked at visitor numbers/gondola usage on the Nevis Range site, rather than the wider revenue impact to the region. I might be wrong though!
