The new section s looked hard packed into rock from the cathro vid. Storms will make it interesting if the cable car gets shut

If anyone gets struck by lightning, I want it to be the Transition Muc Off team....and them to be 'powered up', Mario Kart stylee....

Tahnee FTW

Mens, no idea.

At least all that daft wheel size talk is dead in the water this year, thankfully...

And Minnaar was going to be the banker in my PB fantasy team for this one.

Shouldn't there be a Claudio preview by now or is he still recovering from the last one?

Got my hopes on gwin.  They really do need a new topic in commentating. wheel size is done to the death, probably will mention caluidos off, and where each british rider is from.

Course looks good. Looks like Olly Wilkins has been drafted in for the course preview with Gee. Brave boy riding that course on a trail bike.

Singletrack are smashing it on the coverage, really impressive. Never seen any before but it popped up on my youtube page today..

I thought this place was more uphill single speed recumbent championships or similar niche toss.

Keep up the good work!

Good to see STW doing it in the here and now. Pinkbike usually has better and earlier coverage. Great to see some serious competition for them from ST.

👍

Looks like Olly Wilkins has been drafted in for the course preview with Gee.

According to Ben Cathro's vids, Olly Wilkins crashed badly too on his course preview. A Cathro preview would be great - maybe not the same entertainment factor as CC but interesting on a technical / line choice level..

What's all the chat about it potentially being the last Fort Bill world cup too..?

Mark/Chipps. Next year employ Ben Cathro.
Your current staff's footage, interviews and commentary of DH events are terrible.

Great from the Syndicate boys there!! They picked a couple of good ones 🙂 Gwinn a bit down there

As for last Ft Bill it's the only race that seems stuck on the calendar, they will need to pay the UCI it's money again so maybe there i a price problem

They were discussing some rumours on the GMBN Dirt Shed Show

they will need to pay the UCI it’s money again so maybe there i a price problem

With a big sponsor deal like Mercedes Benz this year, and higher profile coverage maybe the UCI (Red Bull?) fees are on the rise...

The dates for next year have already been announced although no venues confirmed. I can't see UCI having dates but no venues agreed.

Interesting that despite a flat between first and second split Gwinn still timed 17th- shows the effectiveness of the cores.

I heard that too. Hopefully just a rumour, but given how much it costs to host an event it could be up in the air? Visit Scotland not seeing the value for money?

Start List up

Going to be a good one I think though hope it's the riding not the weather that settles it

The I just got a UCI press pass ain't it cool style is fun 😉 (I am back off to Vital/Pinkbike for my news though)

Edit - What isn't fun is having to edit posts because I quoted a username in the post and it threw heaps of shit in there despite having used the break links and erase formatting buttons.

OK so looks like the weather starts to tur about 3pm

https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2649169

Not the best for the top 10 🙁

Anyway any predictions?

Women

1) Atherton

2) Seagrave

3) Ravenel - just a sneaky feeling she could come good over the long track

Mens

1) Shaw - Hoping he can convert that quali performance and go one better than round 1

2) Gwinn

3) Blenkinsop

Bit of a shake up I think

Red bull have made it harder than ever to find the live stream (currently on the countdown just over an hour to go), got there eventually, but bloody hell it feels like a test of how much you actually want to watch it.

Assuming weather doesn't intervene, I reckon:

1 - Atherton

2 - Nicole

3 - Seagrave

1 - Gwinn

2 - Hart

3 - Shaw

Playing it pretty safe with those. I'd love to see Gee put down the sort of proper fast run he's more than capable of but I don't see it happening. Maes and Williamson mixing it at the sharp end will be good to see.

How does everyone feel about the starting order? I was onboard with the change last year but this year seems overly complicated. Plus, I feel for guys who qualify inside the top 15 then don't even get onto the live feed.

Well that was a little eventful for the women!!

Atherton 2.5s up with no chain before crashing!! She could hold for top 5 here which would be depressing for some others

Wow top 3 with no chain!! Some skill on those jumps

The fact that the second and third places women had two crashes and a snapped chain between them suggests it's a three horse race this year.

Yeah, the top 3 women are just a league ahead of the rest.  Happy though as I had Tahnee in my fantasy team 😎

Does beg the question though of how fast Rachel could have been with a chain and no crash!

Yeah certainly wouldn't bet against 3 winners from 3 rounds either

2 very contrasting races where round 1 a single mistake sent you out of contention to one where it's just about the least mistakes and holding out till the end

Gutted for rachel, she was in my fantasy team. Look at the junior girl coming through the ranks, she is the next elite champ. Im still calling gwin but who knows .

Rach hit all the motorway jumps (except the Tissot) way better tucking and chainless than she usually does when pedalling with a chain.

Oh and yes the stream is a bit pants occasionally it I think the production guys have done a great job with the cameras making the track look good

Had a couple of drop outs on the stream (usually flawless) liking the footage, good mix of track given how many sections that are pointless  putting cameras in for 3s of footage. Not sure what the back seat directors want (that is practical)

Hell of a run to get the hot seat there, could last a little while longer

What's the point of the procore system other than save your rim?

edit, wasn't a flat, a rear brake failure.

Means you can finish better and a lot quicker than a full flat, might get you the extra 10 points that makes a difference

Reece Wilson will be sweating his way to the podium at the moment, looks like Gwinn managed an unfortunate stem/tackle contact there which would probably send most of us crawling home

Danny Hart just didn't look on it from the start - the sitting down thing on the boardwalk kinda signaled that I think? Would have been the perfect day if he'd taken the win along with Tahnee

Could be an interesting end of season if these young guns keep the performances up, talk was of Luca Shaw being over a second up before his flat (or that could just be an awesome new bike!!) Here is hoping for the season to stay tight and evenly spread the mechanicals

Just back from Fort William , the weather was excellent apart from just before the 4x last night when there was the biggest downpour Ive seen in a while. Reece Wilson  and Tahnee were the stars of the show for me. Also Nigel paige who mades my sons days yesterday telling him his Nukeproof looked the business outside the Aldi in Fort Bill. I hope it isnt the last ever one as Its a great weekend.
