Northwind, you about?

Got to shorten the hoses on some OEM Formula T1's I've bought. What do I need to do it? Is it just a couple of olives and inserts? Like these...?

Or do I need anything else too?

Cheers

o/

You just need the pin/barb and the olive. The barb's actually reusable but it's a faff- you need to carefully remove the o-ring, then either cut (pain in the ass and I'd probably cut my hands off) or melt the hose off. I melt it- just cut it down at the end of the barb, hold it in pliars, melt with cigarette lighter. Shorten it at the lever end btw though you'd probably figured that!

So to confirm, are those links on CRC I posted correct if I don't want to faff about trying to recycle the old barbs and olives?

VERY used to Shimano brakes, zero experience of Formula so far! 😕

Yup, spot on- and that's all you need. And don't lose the 8mm nut on the hose as they're about a billion quid to buy a new one, and you will be properly annoyed when it turns out it had just slid down the hose. Don't ask me how I knows.

Oh, and it can be a little difficult to get the hose out of the lever- once you remove the shroud and nut, it'll still be tightly held by the barb, just needs a pull though.

Cheers again

Bleeding them... Any tips? Is it as much of a PITA as Avids, or is there a knack to it?

As long as you follow the instructions it's basically simple... Every time i've had issues it's because I thought I knew better  It can feel like a lot of to-ing and fro-ing but honestly now i'm used to it I find it quicker than shimano

(it's basically the same as avid, only with less random)
