My road bike freehub has now finally packed in. It's the Formula RB-52 fitted to a Maddux Rim. I've done a bit of searching and it seems that replacements for the freehub are difficult to find. Although the wheel is 4 years old I am loathed to chuck it for the sake of a failed freehub......it seems to be a bit of a waste of an otherwise serviceable wheel.
Firstly, does anyone else have any suggestions of how to find a replacement compatible freehub, and secondly does anyone have any recommendations for a decent replacement entire wheel - looked at the Mavic Askiums, seem to be the budget choice for road wheels.
The bike (Cannondale Caad 8 ) is used for a once a week commute and the occasional 40-50 miler so it's not something that's used lots.
If it's a basic OEM hub you're banging your head against a brick wall I'm afraid. I've never been able to find replacement freehub for any Formula hub like that.
Yep, guessed as much. Looks like its a new wheel set.
