Ran out of pad in the front last ride, thought I'd managed to get air in/fluid out when I kept pulling the lever until i realised.
have bled them with new pads AND have lubed the sides of the pistons with DOT fluid, but they're still really sticky and the pistons aren't retracting very well at all.
any ideas?
(bump).
I have ORO's, they work perfectly for me, only been bled once in the years I've had them. Are the pistons pushed all the way in? I just use a screwdriver to force them back.
I wore my rear K18 pad all the way down to the backing yesterday.. pushed the pistons back with a screwdriver with the old pads still in place. May take a bit of force but they go in eventually.
Try silicon grease (a big pot from a plumbing trade shop will last you forever) when you pump out the pistons, and do it at least five or six times, (as in pump out, grease, push back in, repeat) being sure to get the grease all round the piston (hard to do on oro calipers, I used the pointy end of a ziptie to get it round the corners.
If it still won't behave, then your seals might be getting knackered.
I recently dismantled one of mrs julian's k24 calipers completely and fitted new seals, pretty straightforward to do, and the seal kit comes with proper kluber silicon grease to lube it all up nice. Seal kit is pretty reasonably priced too (compared to some of the rest of their spares!)
Spray some silicone on the pistons.
Also try this, copied it my site as the GF has Formula Oro brakes:

ta fer the replies everyone.
that article/reply from chris costello was really helpful in visualising what goes on in the caliper as the pad wears.
will gie it a bash tha' nicht!
