I've managed to crack the rear hub axle of a Giant Tracker rear hub, which I believe is a rebranded Formula. I can't seem to get a replacement from Giant so looking for a Formula Rear hub axle in 148x12mm (Boost). Any idea where to look?
Ta!

Formula is no fun.
As far as I know: there are no "Formula spares" for the end customer...

Best to contact Giant. Still in warranty?

I used to have bikes with Formula hubs as well. This low quality Formula stuff lasts roughly a year or so - not longer.
In the case of a wrecked Formula hub I order a complete new custom wheel with DT370 hub (like from actionsports.de). Means around / or minimum 100 GBP ...

So long as you don't snap an axel, formula hubs take generic cartridge bearings. Easily serviceable, but when things go 'pop' that's it.

My current MTB has Formula hubs, stripped them down and re-greased recently after two years use, fine.

My Fixie I used for commuting had the same, but it was so easy to tap out the old cartridge bearings, and fit new ones, I wore rims out quicker (crazy braking in city riding).

I managed to get some 'unobtainable' Formula brake spares from French ebay if that's any help?

Totally different company to the Formula who make the OE hubs I'm afraid.

You are talking about the hub - and not the thru axle - right?

If the thru axle failed you have several options. Like low cost KCNC thru axles.

If it's the cartridge bearing they are standard of course and you get those without any problems.

If the hub itself broke you are up to new rear wheel? You are talking "boost"? O.k. - then 100 GBP is not enough. Even "FunWorks / actionsports.de / DT370" custom boost rear wheels are more like 150 GBP ...

This is for Shimano I guess.

GIANT is able to help you with the Formula "axle"?
Had no luck - up to now - to get any spares from Formula directly.

Formula sells the stuff to the OEMs - but not to the end customer.
Quality is normally very poor.

I have and guessing most will have hubs/wheels knocking around from Formula. Mine came on with a Boardman FS Pro, I emailed Boardman, not spares avaialble. Thier responce was something like as it's a budget bike they don't stock hub spares. I also emailed Formula directly, still waiting a response a year on.
That said, my alxe looks like the one in the link.

I will be swaping it out for a hope hub when I get the time.

Seems crazy to write off a wheel for a simple part. Basically the freehub side end caps was on very tight and when I tried to loosen it the axle cracked at the disc side. The walls are very thin around the 12mm socket at the disc end.

I've actually ordered a very cheap Fulcrum wheelset from CRC as an emergency fill-in. Seems bonkers but so be it.

I have an industry contact at Giant and seems they have the equivalent part in 142mm but not in boost spacing! Might have to order a whole hub from them.

Was the drive side end cap a LH thread?

It was. But it did say 'Loosen' on it with a big arrow, so pretty sure I got it right!! 😉
