So, I bought a rear and a front from Tredz a few weeks ago. Rear arrived and was told front was delayed. I was then phoned by the nice people at Tredz (not sarcastic here, they are really good at updating me with purchase info), that the front had been discontinued?! Cura's have only been out a year or so? I gave Silverfish a bell and they told me the same thing, no additional info 🙁 So I was left with 1 brake, cut, fitted and used (I'd also bought a new bleed kit and some formula min oil). Great! I've rung Tredz and told them to just send me another rear and I'll cut the hose down (which will most likely have to be done on front anyway). But it got me worried as to why they have apparently been discontinued? Anyone got more info? Is it an Italian miscommunications thing? Issues with Silverfish/Formula relations?

Rear brake is great. I've always got on with Formula, but I know loads don't. I haveThe Ones on 2 other bikes, so the pad compatibility was a selling point. They are actually the first set of new brakes I've bought new since my shimano Vbrakes when they were first released lol!

Seems weird to be discontinued already; bike-discount in Germany have a front Cura if you want to complete your set.

l.e. slightly cheaper on bike24

They're still showing on the Formula website. Does seem weird that they're 'discontinued' so quickly..

The 4s aren't on silverfish site either, as I was considering a front 4.

I’ve been saving for ages for a set of these brakes. Really hope they’ve not discontinued them as I’m not even at the halfway point yet. Might have to go with plan B aka Magura Trailsport 😕

Er... You can use a rear as a front.

Do you wanna buy a relatively new brake that's being "discontinued" though?

What if it's 'cos loads are failing?

More info required.

Using a rear for the front would mean the writing is upside down. You’re on a forum full of people that have to line up logos and valves.

This is why I was concerned. But I'd already fitted and used the rear brake before I knew they had been discontinued. I'd also bought mineral oil and a new bleed kit.

The logo won't be upside down, the levers have always been interchangeable, front/rear.

Thought there was a logo on the body, sorry. Wouldn’t bother me, but imagine it would drive some people on here crazy if they did. I’ve not read anything other than good reviews and user feedback. Maybe just replaced with the 4 pot version.

Hope not. I wanted these for my next build and the 4pots just seem a bit overkill.

Not heard anything but praise so I'd be surprised if they did have such issues.

Take this opportunity to put 4 pistons up front with 2 on the rear.  I did this with Shimano and love the balanced feel.

Be wary of the 4 pots until you have secured a supply for replacement pads  Last time I looked none of the usual suspects were even listing them for back order

The 2 pots are excellent. Pad compatibility back to The One, Mega, R1, R0 etc means they're easily available. I ran 2 pots in the Alps for four months this summer. 203 rotors front and back. Bent one lever and subbed in a shimano m/c fwiw.

My LBC told me that Formula were changing importer.  Something about Silverfish now importing fox forks and not importing Formula forks.

There was a shortage of mineral oil in the summer, because of this I believe.

Think the new distributor is pretty easy to guess! I have noticed what was happening a few weeks back., someone is rising!

Huh, interesting! Didn't see any hints online! Looking forward to reduced offset formula forks

He means Chris Porter (Mojo Rising).

Some clues on CP's Insta, if you like that sort of thing.

Got a call yesterday from tredz. They couldn't get the rear brake either! Ffs! Still stick with one brake fitted. They sent me a free returns parcel so refund was available. Fortunately crc had some front brakes in, so ordered a front. What a faff!
