Looking for some straight steerer qr forks for my Marin Bobcat trail 5 29er what are my options if any?
It currently has RockShox Recon coils on currently, not a bad fork by any means but being 70kg with a medium spring which is more suitable for the larger gentleman I’m thinking a Air fork would be more suitable.
Currently 100mm but think it will take a 120mm
I was casually looking at this a few months back, but didn't buy anything. Either cheap junk or too expensive to bother.
Have a look through the forum history as theres a couple of threads on this with forks you can get.i think manitou and rockshox still do basic forks.there was a german and China site doing them and I think they were air 100mm
Ignore me.i thought you meant 26inch.
Try looking at Suntour - I think the Epixon and possibly the Raidon might be available in straight steerer in some sizes. Both aren’t bad forks - I think the Epixon is the better of the 2 generally at the lower end. Both are 32mm stanchion forks - some versions have steel stanchions and some have alloy though - check if weight is something you’re worried about in a fork.
Suntour Axon is available in straight steerer too, in 100 or 120mm and really light (<1700gms). "TS" models are straight steerer, "CTS" is tapered.
If it's the frame with a 44mm headtube you can use a tapered fork. You'll just need a new lower headset cup ( approx £20 from superstar. ec44/40 model).
