Hi
I have this bike.....
https://www.specializedconceptstore.co.uk/product/2713/2016-stumpjumper-fsr-elite-650b/
I need to give the fork a service, but before I do, if I was going to upgrade it, not by a lot, but just a slightly newer or slightly better model, what would I look for that can fit?
Does it have to be another with 150mm travel? Does it have to be another RockShox? Is the Pike pretty good anyways?
Cheers

I guess the other questio would be, whilst it's in the shop, is there anything that could be done to the fork to upgrade or improve it whilst they've got it apart?

If your Pike is in good condition and merely needs a service then there's not much point in buying another fork. The Pike is still an excellent fork, a service and bespoke setup for your riding style is probably the best upgrade that you can give it.

Otherwise you'd be splurging best part of a grand on something that is only going to be shinier than what you already have.

The real question is what would you hope to gain from your 'upgrade'? What do you mean by "better"? It's not as simple a question as it seems...

Less weight?
More travel?
More controlled/controllable damping and/or bump response (and for what purpose)?
All of the above?
Or do you simply want more shiny newness? (which is a fair enough want)

The Pike is in good condition to be fair. Hardly ridden but needs a service as I think something went on it on its first ride in well over a year because it had been sitting around for so long.... I'm guessing one or two seals dried out and it lost some liquid so the lockout is not very effective at the moment.
In hindsight, replacing it would be a waste of money. Upgrade "whilst it's being worked on anyway" question was whether I should look at giving it more travel or if there is anything else to do. To be honest I think i'd just be wasting money now I think about it. I bought it as I don't want to take my XC racer to BPW and other places similar. I'm a mid-red level rider so reckon 150mm is probably perfectly fine for me! I'll leave it as is... thanks for the comments.
