Hi,
I am looking to upgrade my heavy Tora 302 coil 100mm forks.
My options are rockshox reba 120 RLT, fox F120 RLC or Rockshox SID RLT.
I would be happy with the ride and function of any of these forks.
My question is would I suffer greatly with fork stiffness if I was to go with SID, I read the 120mm version has much improved stiffness over previous for 2011. I dont really want to sacrifice any stiffnes over my current 302's
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Anything with a bolt through is likely to be noticably stiffer than your Toras - assuming they're Q/R dropout forks.
The Rebas would be the way to go by the looks of things and are probably the cheapest option too.
Your right, Currently 9mm QR but did not want to get into the cost of new front hoop really,(I know the 15mm would help! but too many pennies to do both) I am keen on the reba's, but read somewhere that the new SID 120 had good stifness too.
Reba or SID's are much of a muchness difference wise (other than weight), unless you 12stone+ or want a bigger disc than the 185 limit on the SID's IMO.
Bolt thru is definitely recommended, though if you trying to keep cost down, unless you ride a 20mm bolt thru on another bike you won't notice any loss of stiffness.
Don't think of today SID's like the noddly SID's of yester-year, any of the fork you've listed willbe as stiff as your Tora's.
Would personnally love some Reba 120mm travel 20mm bolt thru Teams (RTL Ti's), but a job and some income is needed first, oh and fixing the BB thread on my main bike
Cheers for advise, feel a bit more secure that whaterver I get will still do the job, I ride pretty aggressive cross country and red black trial centre mainly, with the occasional XC race. Hence I don't want to lose any stiffness from current set up
