Hey guys!

Basically, I'm getting rid of my forks and after some new ones!

Old ones have a 205mm steerer and 20mm of spacers approx!

Now the new ones I'm after are 185mm length!

Now mathematically this works, but I measured 185mm on my forks and lined it up!

The 185mm mark runs right in the middle of the top bolt on the stem!

Is this safe?! Or not recommended! The top bolt will clamp but the top half has no steerer!

Stem is a Thomson x4 70mm and forks are float 36.

Any help would be great! Thanks

Get a lower stack stem, if you can live without the spacers. Thomson are a bit higher than most iirc.

The Renthal Duo stem is a crucial few mm shorter in stack than the Thomson X4 50mm, but that's a little different in shape than the 70mm version. Worth checking. Also does your headset offer any opportunity to reduce the stack height?

I have a 2011 heckler and a Chris king headset!

No movement there unfortunately!

It's annoying really because I have just nailed the set up, but want these forks!

Take it that it us a no no to run it as it is?!

Thanks guys
