Hi
Just put a tiny chip on the stanchion of my pike. It’s barely visible, not much more than a millimetre or so and just the the first layer so still black underneath but you can feel it if you run a finger over it.
Does it need fixing with nail varnish to prevent it worsening or wearing the seal or can I just leave it?

Cheers

James

Depends how big / deep it is. I gouged my Lyrik stanchions when a stone got trapped between them and the fork brace. I filled them in as best I could with humbrol black enamel paint. Mine you could see a bit of stuff that wasn’t black though - the humbrol improves the look and I’ve never had air leaking.

Where is it? In the first 50mm of travel then keep an eye on it. In the top 50mm, you'll probably not need to worry at all.

It’s about 10cm into 16cm of travel and really shallow so I’ll just keep an eye on it for a while

Knifing putty or modelling putty can work really well if it’s too deep - then use some VERY fine wet and dry called micro mesh (starts at 3600 goes to 12000) to polish it flat...
