Hi guys,

Need to service my dot Swiss xcr 100 forks and need to know what fork oil to use. I've got a load of fox float fluid leftover from an old fork. Is that OK to use?

If not then what am I going to need? Dot Swiss website wants me to use very expensive stuff... No thanks!!

Cheers

You need to find the right weight for your forks. Should be in the manual or service guide. Likely to be around 5 to 10 wt but some use 15. Float fluid will be way too thick. Once you've found the weight buy it from a motorcycle shop.

Wt isn't a universal measure of suspension oil viscosity. There's a chap called pvd I think who has a wiki pages that explains it all in great detail.

Most forks manufacturers use oil for the big companies, you can often spot it by the colour of the oil and the shape of the bottle.

I had some DT Swiss XMM140 forks which should have taken 7.5wt, I only had 5wt so used that and all was well.

Ah excellent well the state Swiss website shows the same oil for all their forks so will go with that 7.5wt. Thanks all!
