So was looking for some 2nd hand or new cheap ish forks for my 2018 Trek Fuel 29 and just struggling to find ones with exact specs.

They have a 51mm offset 130mm travel and they spec as ‘E2 tapered’ (fox Rhythm 34).

I have found some new fox forks but they say ‘1.5 tapered’ and only have 44mm offset.

I have no idea what size E2 actually is and how much difference the offset makes to how the bike feels.

Am I better off to just keep looking for an exact match?

I think E2 refers to a proprietary Trek headset standard.

A tapered steerer tube should fit. Most 29er forks are reduced (44mm) offset these days, so might even improve the handling of the bike?

Thank you.

These are the forks I was looking at:

they just say 1.5 tapered so not sure if that fits the bike or will need new bearings etc

1.5 tapered should be fine - afaik its only giant that had weird tapered standards recently.

The offset probably won't make much noticable difference to the average rider, so if your wheels are boost they should fit.
