Any thoughts on Pike / Lyrik, 140/150mm fork for a Five Evo?
Frame has Fox Factory FloatX shock, will mostly be ridden in Calderdale by lightweight rider, not particularly talented, one iffy wrist after an OTB.
Either should be fine IMO.
Lyrik feels like way too much fork for that use case.
Remember the 34. The 2022 onwards model (with the curved, not angular arch) was a massive improvement over the old 34, stiffer, lighter, better all round. Much closer in stiffness to the 36 than the old model. Will work at up to 140mm. Many people default to the 36 when the 34 is now more suitable.
Float X Factory + Fox 34 Factory Grip 2 is exactly what I ran on my Stage Evo.
I run a 140mm 34 on mine and its good for general trail duties. Even out in the Alps with mates on with 160mm bikes I've rarely felt outgunned but am going to put a 150mm 36 on it I think. Superb bike - nearly time to replace it and the best replacement I can think of is a Stage 6 Evo which is sort of its bigger brother.
Lyrik or 36 is a lot of fork but at the same time the downsides aren't huge. Honestly you could plug whatever you like in there if the price is right, I'd think less about the chassis and more about damping etc because that both inspires confidence and helps control, and also (don't arsk me how I knows) can take a bit of stress off a gimped wrist. In this market that's what'd drive me, whatever chassis with the nicest damper is available at a good price.
Nobody ever spoiled a bike by adding 300 grams too much fork to it, would be my main thing. though at the same time changing fork length can be randomly expensive these days, especially on a bargain fork. I got one of those super cheap Merlin 36s and as it happened I had internals already for it but length adjustment starts at £55 + oil.

Drop me a line if you want a view on this, I've had mine a while and it's good but quite different to most modern bikes.
With regards to the OP - I'd say 150mm Lyrik/36 as they're in Calderdale and the slightly beefier chassis may help a touch with the dodgy wrist.
Unless OP is particularly lightweight.
Thanks all for the replies, interesting to hear your views and I think that's everyone I'd been hoping to hear from.
I'd discounted the 34/36 as I thought Fox didn't offer 27.5 or 37mm offset, which is what the frame's supposedly designed for.
I'm sure that he Pike would be plenty stiff enough for me as I'm only about 66 kg dressed and ready to ride, I was only wondering about the Lyrik as it would give option of 150mm (either now, or in future), which might help confidence on steeps and possibly be a bit more comfortable as well? At my weight would there be much in it comfort/confidence wise between 140 and 150? If not then I'll just go with the cheaper and lighter Pike.
I'm a lump and my 150mm 27.5 Pikes were absolutely fine on my Pace hard tail. They could cope happily with all I could chuck at them. Wouldn't worry about the offset, it makes very little difference.
