Looking for a fork for a new BFe build, will be running 150mm, narrowed it down to either a Pike, Yari, Lyrik or Helm.

Must be user serviceable, which seems to favour Rockshox. I’m used to a Pike on my current bike, albeit an older 2014 model, I like it, but the Charger damper has been a bit of a pain.

Thinking the Yari with the MoCo damper would be bombproof and so easy to service, and would probably be ok for a hardtail, then get a Lyrik for a new full sus later on.

Thoughts and experiences appreciated.

I'm not a fan of the MoCo damper. It quickly becomes overwhelmed on repeated hits. Okay for smooth trail centre type stuff.

How burley are you going on the HT? My gut says Pike, but if you're a big chap, or a smasher, go with the Lyrik.

No experience of the Helm but I might consider if if you wanted a coil fork from the off.

Pike or Lyrik with the best damper (charger 2.1?)
Have all three RS you’ve mentioned and my Pike rct3 feels the best. Lyrik chassis is a bit stiffer but is more basic Select + oem version. Yari most basic but still feels pretty good except on fast respected hits where is does lose out to others. Very respectable for the money though and upgradable in the future.
My money would be on Lyrik ultimate, but I’m a bit of a biffer and appreciate the extra stiffness.

Enduro-mtb mag have just reviewed a load of forks. Seems like ideal timing.

Mezzer got mentioned about. Great fork on paper but if you get a bad one, support is non existent in the UK.

If you're thinking Rockshox, do you want a lockout? If so RCT3 damper, if not, then the RC2 is better (and was my choice for my Lyrik after sending two Mezzers back).

I’ve gone with a Yari on my new hardtail, they’ll probably be set at 150 too. MoCo will
Do for the whole and then I’ll put an upgraded damper in for the compression.
I like a beefy fork and my last bike had a lyrik, I don’t think I could go back to a Pike chassis after that.

I’m fairly heavy but tend to pick lines rather than smash through stuff. This bike will be used mostly for local, trail centre type stuff, some rooty sections, but on the whole flowy singletrack. Not fussed about lockout, never ever use it on my RCT3 Pike.

I have a full sus that would be taken for welsh trips or anything rocky etc.

Mezzer is out, can’t deal with the hassle of a bad one, and just don’t like the look of it TBH.

Budget is a factor too.

Sounds like a Yari then. Various upgrades available if you decide later that it's too harsh.

Revelation might actually do the trick. It's a pike chassis with the MoCo damper.

Didn’t even realise the Revelation was on a 35mm chassis now 😄

Ideally I would get a Pike or Lyrik ultimate, but I can’t see any good deals coming up anytime soon with everything that’s going on. So it’s hard to look past the Yari.

Any experiences of Select vs Ultimate on the Pike or Lyrik?

I've got the Lyrik ultimate and so far, I'm really pleased with it. Can't compare it to the select as I've never tried one.

IMO a hardtail needs just as good a fork as full sus if not better as it's the only suspension you have. You mention you wouldn't want a Mezzer but I have a Mattoc and it's fantastic with zero faults in 5 or so years of riding. For the price you would struggle to beat the performance.

I had a Pike forked bike and then added a Yari based HT. The Yari was turd, a basic fork compared to a Pike or Fox 36 from my experience. I'm numb and geometry or fork change can pass me by but even so I wouldn't recommend a Yari.

few and far between TBH but the cost is high

mattoc would be my choice given your requirements - cheap, user friendly and easy to service. They come with an IRT now IIRC with the pro model.

Coil some revs. If you find the moco damper not good enough, upgrade it later.
I went down the trying to improve my air spring route with my revs. Upgraded spring to debonair, then upgraded to 2.1 RC damper plus push seals, then 2021 debonair, then have up and bought a smashpot.
Should have done smashpot to start with!

Agree with dc1988. Get the best feeling fork you can get. And it'll be coil!

After riding the Pike ultimate and the Helm, I'd have the Helm.

Currently have a BFe with a Yari. I suspect I'm not the most sensitive rider out there but it seems pretty good. Nice thing about the Yari is the well trodden upgrade paths if you like. I'm probably going to put an upgrade in with its spring service.

Nice solid chassis which suits the BFe which is a tank.
