Anyone else taken advantage of the Planet X sale at the moment?
£96 for a 29er Jack flash frame, delivered, seems a bit too good to miss, especially as i have a Bootzipper build that im not convinced is for me (as a rigid bike)

Problem is, now i need a fork.

Anyone got a Jackflash29er? website says 130mm fork, but its a 65degree head angle? scope for a 120 or a 140?

The only second hand 130mm forks i can find have had their steerer tubes cut to 150mm (New frame has a 135mm steerer with no headset in it, so i reckon i would need a 190mm steerer at least.
Whats good in budget forks these days?
Im guessing it would be prudent to stick abouve the Rockshoc 35, Judy and look at the reba or recon (or a pike, and reduce its travel?)
Any deals anyone spotted?

I've run both 120mm and 140mm on my Scandal which had the same geometry. Both absolutely fine. Climbs better with 120mm descends better with 140mm. 130mm prob the goldilocks length, but I haven't tried it!
Shame only XL availible.

that is a mighty good deal, though a bit much for a "parts bin" build that has hayes 9s on it, perhaps? ill certainly keep it in mind. thanks

You need something a bit like a Pike and a 34…but a bit different….hmmmm 😉

If you don't mind 2nd hand I have a 2017 140mm Yari with easily 190mm+ of steerer tube still there, probably more. Was serviced last year and working fine. I've switched to a 160mm Lyrik so it's just sat in the shed waiting for another frame I'll probably never get around to buying. Photo here, head tube on the Canfield is 125mm for reference.

How budget were you thinking? There were some 130mm 29er Suntours on Wiggle for £30 last time I checked... Same forks that come on £1k+ Boardmans at Halfords

Where are you MrOx?

I'm in Fife but no hassle for me if they need to be posted. Not even thought about price but looking at eBay I guess somewhere in the region of £200 is fair. Away with work at the mo, home on 20th January so I'll get them out and take some proper photos and measurements then.

The £30 130mm Suntours are still available in 29" on CRC. I just bought some!

I’ve got a brand new Fox 34 Performance fork, 120mm travel (but can go up to 150 with correct air shaft fitted), 44mm offset, Boost, uncut steerer… Bought it for a project and never used, for various reasons missed the window to return it.

Was £400 from CRC just over a year ago (rrp £749). Would like as much of that back as possible but realistic about prices.

PM me if of any interest.

thanks for the offers, but i think im gonna try an stick to my 100 quid ish limit.
Missed out on some pretty new looking Rebas on ebay yesterday. Out bid in the final seconds.
there do seem to be a lot of forks that have been cut down to 150mm steerers, which wouldnt be much use for many people i cant imagine.
The 30 quid Suntours had caught my eye, but my wheels are Boost.
