Hi all.
I've got an old skool Fox 32 fork which is making a pronounced clunking noise when I lift the front end of the bike over anything. You can feel it too like a reverse bottoming out feel.
Any ideas? Also... does anyone still service/fix these forks? It's from around 2007/2008 and is the straight steerer version.
Worth checking headset- I thought my fork was going exactly this until I realised I had a lot of play in my headset.
sounds like a top out clunk. if thats all you are getting on a 12-13 year old fork you are doing well!
A service might help, no idea if spares are still available for those though
Cracked negative coil spring inside the fork is my bet.
Hmmmm.....sounds like it might be more trouble than it’s worth.
Trouble is I’m not so sure I’ll be able to get hold of another pair of decent second hand straight steerer forks? Sounds like I’d better start looking on eBay.
My 2012 32 Factorys were doing that ( my son had been riding the bike and didn’t even notice!). I sent them off to get sorted and it cost around £100 - needed a new damper bladder which was no longer made, but the service people managed to get one from Silverfish that was the same. I used Plus Suspension, but probably worth getting in touch with Silverfish to see if your model can be sorted.
Slow rebound down?
Thanks for all your replies. Will give that a try but also might try to contact Silverfish I’d it doesn’t work. It’s a shame because it’s still a great bike but I suppose like cars, spares are getting thin on the ground now.
