After a budget 650b air fork that's in stock somewhere for delivery next week.

It's my son's bike and the current coil fork is garbage/he only weighs 45kg.

The bike itself is inexpensive (as we knew it would get grown out of over a couple of years) but is in regular use and has been refined/improved from spares. Components will probably get transferred to a new frame in a year or so.

Tapered steerer and 15mm or QR (current is QR but I'll stretch to a wheel to future proof).

Suggestions welcomed.

In the past I'd have just hit CRC and sorted by price!

MoCo damper, but at £150 not a bad fork at all: https://planetx.co.uk/products/rockshox-35-gold-rl-debonair-29-boost-fork-1

Edit - ignore, these appeared as 27.5 on search result but on click thru they're actually 29er...

thanks, not sure why I didn't check PX.  Had a scout round a few retailers on the train and seems to be some RockShox options just struggling to navigate all the model ranges and in stock/out of stock.

I've left this a bit late as off to BPW late next week and want to switch them before we go. 😬

Not sure of your budget (cheap Suntour & Airbike forks around) but this looks a possibility if 120mm travel would work. I've no idea about the suppliers though.

I struggle with the sub-Yari level stuff in the RockShox range now. My kids have Recon Silver RL 27.5 130mm on their Ragleys and they work well for their low weight (39kg and 45kg).

Tonnes of options on Bikeinn too:

I think we are all converging on the same options but you should be able to get a mid range RS fork with Motion Control damper for well under £200. Just check which version (This one is not clear whether its 15x100 or 15x110 Boost)

120mm Bolt thru Recons.

Anything from Bikeinn would be a bit tight delivery wise for next week most likely, unless you pay the premium shipping option.

Check ebay, Pinkbike etc for second hand. Plenty of people upgrade from new so the sort of forks suggested above can be had as new for peanuts. I know because I've tried to sell some in the past!

Thanks all.  120-130mm tapered steerer and ideally QR so I don't have to buy a wheel as well.  This appears to be some kind of supreme rarity.  Like cheap, light, strong - choose two!

Ebay isn't delivering any joy (people always say look on eBay it's rammed with forks or frames and I can only find a chesterfield sofa and a half eaten jar of lime pickle).  The truth is I'm probably a bit impatient and don't click enough listings.  🫤

Then there's the whole scam or real website roulette.

Off to pinkbike...

The best I can find only has a straight steerer, so that'd be extra cost & faff or buying from Europe which would probably be too slow.

Hmm. The other day I was thinking of selling Jnr#2's Manitou Mattoc Pro in 27.5" flavour.

They're 140mm (can do 160), but quite short A-C from what I remember. They're bolt thru, non boost, but handily I have a wheel that can come with them. Superstar Isotope 30mm rim on V6 hub.

I bought the forks off of here and they're very decent things indeed. I have a spare set of RS Revs and a boost wheel I can swap him onto, which would then mean most of us are on boost spacing. Anyway, let me know if it's of interest. £150 plus a bit for post, as it'll need some creative packaging!
