Thinking of doing an uplift day soon, how good is it? What length are the runs? What is it like in the wet?

Thanks in advance.

1.5 -3 mins depending on how quick you are, good fun you'll get 15 runs in a day, not steep, plenty of roots, few rocks, it isnt enornmously challenging if you are super gnarr, but its good enough for steve peat to use as a competion ground last year when selecting new kids. Last time I went it was damp, and it all ran fine.

It's very professionally run, is clean, efficient etc. They have a good setup at Flyup.

Runs are very short but there is sufficient variety for a day. You will find yourself sessioning teh same runs over and over though. The shuttle itself is also very short - which is great. They literally take you to the end of the road, turn left up a road and up a hill and you're there. That's great, as lengthy uplift runs really eat into your day otherwise.

15 runs sounds great, as does the short shuttle time!

Great uplift service. Would rate this and cwmdown as the best I've used. The runs are short but are good fun and youre back at the top in no time

There is a good variety of tracks, I love the place.
There is also cwm carn which is really only one track with two different lines at the top, is also good fun.
Then there is triscombe, which I've never done but have heard good things.

toys19, I'm looking for an alternative to Cwmcarn as I have ridden it many times and it no longer warrants the three hour drive. FOD is a bit closer and has more tracks, I'm not really looking for super tech, more somewhere to practice after my day with jedi.

perfect for that. fod is more sheltered, so I think tis less affected by weather the way cwmcarn is, ie its not a bloody windswept hell hill in the rainiest place in europe...

Nice! Aston Hill is my closest DH venue, but jumps there are few and far between.

It's fun, and to echo above simon the guy who runs it really is a nice bloke. I rocked up one day at about 11:30 stayed until 2 got about 9 runs only wanted to charge me £10!!

FoD uplift is awesome, probably the best one I've been on. The tracks are fairly short but you get so many in that it doesn't really matter.

It's not really that bad in the wet, I was there last weekend after a night of rain and only lost grip a couple of times.

You can push FOD and still get 10 runs in without being too much of a machine and still have best part of £30 in your pocket

Mini dh from those options. Arguably a 5-6" bike is best suited to the majority of the tracks there

And some of us just see it as a bit of a treat, a present to ourselves.
Because we're worth it.

😆 +1 apart from I'm not even old, just lazy. If I'm downhilling I don't want to be going up as well, if I wanted that I'd go on an xc ride!

As for what bike, a full on dh bike seems like a bit much, I even feel a bit over biked on my Bullit (180mm f&r). 140mm hardtail was a bit sketchy in places though.. so mini dh bike!
