7 of us doing an uplift day at FOD in June.
Stopping over for food/beers would be good - don't know the area at all though.
Where would be good to stay? Something like a cheap bunkhouse to fit us all with our gear would be good.
Open to suggestions though if anyone has any for the area...cheers

Thanks Pawsy...have you stayed there?
Coleford & Cinderford and the places I've heard of prior to booking the uplift day...are they any good to stay at? Gloucester & Cheltenham not too far away either.

2nd the Fountain , good no nonsense grub perfect after a days riding , beer ain't too shabby either 🙂 They have a bunkhouse out back and as Pawsy said you can ride to the trails from there without hardly touching the road .

Plus one for what oldfart said. I live a mile down the road so no I've not stayed in it. Friends have stayed there or camped local. Ideal really, saved using car and car parking.

If you can get into the Fountain do so. Good beer, food good enough and home to the local cycling club. Cinderford! 😯 They don't call it the monkey tump for nothing. A dump but like all dumps has good kebab shops and a nice little cinema. Coleford much the same, the cinema is a bit bigger, less there but a touch less grotty.
You can do better than stray out to the cities. Gloucester is a hole and Cheltenham, whilst a touch better has little to make it worth a 25 mile plus drive. Try the local tourist office. You might get into Whitemead park which is a CSMA site backing onto the woods on one side and the Fountain on the other.

Oh if you go to Coleford I'd cycle to Pedalaway via the old train line.
