Is this just me? Sometimes I feel like I can't be arsed, but I force myself to get my gear on and push the bike out, and almost invariably have a great ride. Today, not only did I clean all the gnarly bits, but at one point a couple walking their dog were overheard to say "He can't surely ride down there?"  Did feel a little bit "rad" at that point...heh heh...

Bikes...Bloody brilliant

I've a wee mantra that I use, I've never regretted going out biking, I always regret not going out.

Works, usually. 😄

Not just you. I have this absurd hesistation at the point of going out the front door on occasions. Really odd.

The Nobeerinthefridge mantra is true

Sometimes I feel like I can’t be arsed, but I force myself to get my gear on and push the bike out, and almost invariably have a great ride look at the clouds, check the weather forecast, get let down by mates, decide I've got stuff to do in the house, notice my neck injury is playing up, put the bike back, get changed and have another week off

That's been my routine since about August. I'm really struggling with it. I've convinced myself I hate riding but I know I just need a mint day on the bike to break the chain of miserable ones. I just can't force myself out there yet.

If you don’t hurt/aren’t injured then go, go, go!

+1 Never regretted a ride (with above exception), not rain, wind, snow, hail, come what may. Disincentive is in the mind, once you’re on the bike it floats off. I often have trouble getting excited about climbing from the door (see hilly thread) but then go bimbling instead on the flatter bits and never regret that either. Bikes are ace. Outdoors too. Bonus truth:

ALWAYS feels and tastes 10X better to come back indoors after a long ride and then get a brew/cold beer/bowl of chilli/plate of hot food than it EVER did to have stayed indoors and get the same! And...you earned it. Double-win. Triple-win if you factor in the grins on the ride.

The hardest bit can be getting out the door, but once that's done, you have a great ride.

I find getting my gear out the night before helps spur me on and out.
