Not sure when this happened.
2012 Reba forks.
Two scratches through the lacquer about 65mm from the seal on the rebound side.
Faaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkk!
Hmm ..... No one to blame bar me too!
Hope this wont cause a problem.
Seem to cycle through the travel okay.
Guess oly time will tell.
Bugger.
arse.
A mate did the same and applied clear nail varnish to the scratch. Very carefully. Then rubbed it flush/smooth even more carefully with the finest of papers. He's been riding them pretty much every week since 2007 without any problems.
Why oh why do folk get sand in their vadges about this.
Repair as above if you are concerned, then ride rather than whine online.
2nd the nail varnish.
Having done a few forks like this - do not even think about using epoxy - it does not work and not all nail varnishes are equal.
I use a chip resistant long lasting expensive (£7 verses £3!) branded silver one and it works a treat. Use the finest Wet and dry you can with the lowers dropped.
Good luck - totally doable.
Thanks Al 😉
Thought there might be more sympathy on here than from Mrs LMTTM 😆
Think I am going to leave tampering further and just get on with it
You should try and get the scratch flat
I just rubbed over it with the rounded blunt side of a knife until I couldn't feal anything raised that might cut the seals
I'm pretty sure it's flat already 😕
Will have a look in the morning.
