You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I had a coaching session last week, and one change was to move my foot position from ball over axle to arch over axle. I have been playing with it and it feels very natural and I have noticably more control. One thing I have noticed today though is that my hands have moved. I used to ride hard on the outside clamp of my grips, but now I'm pressed right up against the flange. This is a big difference, almost 6cm, so I am loath to just whip ot the hack saw.
Is this a known thing? If I could I'd slide my grips inboard but they don't support it. The bar is a OneUp carbon so cocking it up is not trivial. I could get a cheaper bar or different grips, but that would be another variable to consider.
Moving your feet forward would have moved your centre of gravity forward, so more weight on bars, I wonder if you're moving hands inboard to brace better to support your weight? Sort of like doing press ups wide hands instead of narrow hands.
I'm just thinking aloud to be honest, I'm having hand/elbow issues on gravel bike and wondering about bar width also...
How wide are your bars at the moment?
Not very wide, they are 730 collar to collar. In hindsight I noticed this most on my way home, so seated bimbling. I might pay a bit more attention tomorrow on some standing stuff.
Mine are 730. Widest I've ever had too
