I am doing a lot more miles these days and I am getting bored of my usual food which often includes bananas, cereal bars and flapjack.

Looking for something different, any suggestions please? Ideally things to carry with me 🙂

Sarnies and OH makes awesome chili bean pasties, bit of fruit, just nice stuff that you'd want to eat anyway or plan your ride to go past a pub/cafe for Maximum Overbimble.

I make loads of things from this book.

They're generally very tasty.

PB&J in a tortilla wrap, sometimes with a banana mashed in.

When I'm lazy I buy those multipacks of Soreen.

Cheap bag of midget gems for when I'm about to flatline.

My local deli does a nice Burrito that I sometimes have after the gym - rice, fried beans, cheese etc. Guess that would be decent for a ride

I carry a pack of jelly babies, one baby every approx 5-10mins from ~1hr in, on rides I expect to be out 2+ hours.

Under 3-4 hours, a banana at most - more than that, ensure a cafe/shop is on route but always carry homemade flapjack and a gel.

bored of my usual food which often includes bananas, cereal bars and flapjack.

The further I ride the less I can stomach that kind of food. Fine for a few hours but sometime after that I want savoury snacks. For touring pace, sandwiches and the like are fine but for faster long rides my fave is something with rice or dark Danish bread. Taken in a ziplock with a spork, or bought along the way. Chinese takeaways are great.

Peanut Butter and Nutella in a wrap?

A great option for winter rides, I love it. Like a massive Reeces PB Cup.

Mounty_73

Gonna give that a try!

Just a small jar of each, and don't forget to put a spoon in the wrap too 🙂

Eccles cakes. Bag of cashews, pecans and raisins with a pinch of salt added.

Try mini egg muffins (made with cheese and any other ingredients, like tomato, peppers, ham, onlins etc.). They are quite robust, so won't breakup easily.

Pork pie. Like a whole meal in your hand. 🙂

On longer rides, i tend to take soft mushy sandwiches, like tuna mayo and egg mayo.

+1 for the pork pie. Come in pocket friendly cocktail size, not too dry, make a nice savoury change from the sweet stuff I find.

People don't plan a ride around a cafe stop?

Weirdos.

For me I like Soreen Malt Loaf or I make a batch of Banana Loaf Cake on the below recipe. Freezes well so as you leave the house you can get it out the freezer and within a few hours it’s good to eat

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/brilliant-banana-loaf

If I’m having lunch whilst I’m out and it’s a bit remote I’m fuelled by ginsters as well as the above.

Pork pie. Small, calorie dense and tasty. Cheese sandwiches are also nice and they all fit in bags and pockets.

I’m leaning towards the pork pie myself. Mmmm

take a wrap.

Add a dollop of humus, mix grated carrot with peanut butter. add to the wrap. Roughly chop a bunch of coriander leaves. add anything else you fancy. complete witha dollop of chilli jam or tobasco or whatever. JAlepeno to taste.

Enjoy, they're so good.

Also "anything" is basically the answer. just eat normal food. Pork pie for sure, cheese and pickle sandwich... absolutely.

You just can’t go wrong with a sandwich.
Although we are a bit old skool and still use hydration packs so there’s plenty of room for a butty.
The pastry encased option is always a winner. I find I actually crave savoury during a big ride rather than sweet but each to there own.

We were riding the Mary townley loop one year on our annual boys riding weekend, and IHN pulled out sushi from his backpack… whatever works!

That hummus sounds amazing.

In autumn, stolen apples are good.

Pork pies and hot cross buns.
Pretty robust when shoved in a bag too.

Nakd Bars are rather good for this, plenty of different flavours to go at too.

Eating on the move, I struggle. So it's Decathlon's own carb isotonic powder in bottles/bladder, then the odd breakfast bar/oat bar and banana's. If there is a stop, then real food (cafe) or sandwiches.

I try not to get too complicated on food whilst riding.
