Following on from the Segull thread this is my top five hard men

1) Arnie - esp for predator, commando, terminator & Conan, the only guy who has knocked out a camel on film.
[img] [/img]
2) Bruce Lee - he is double hard
[img] [/img]
3) Rambo aka Sylvester Stallone
[img] [/img]
4) Chuck Norris - top of his list has to be The Delta Force

5) Bruce Willis - got to be... Die Hard...

Segal, Mel Gibson, John Woo and the muscles from Brussels make it into the top 10.

Liam Neeson, for Taken.

Piers Brosnan for Seraphim Falls.

Russell Crowe, for Gladiator and Proof of Life.

And my favourite Conan the Barbarian moment is when he bites the vulture. 🙂

Liam Neeson, for Taken.

It's an OK film, but for me it relied too much on technology that I sincerely doubt was available in the mid 80s.

Ben Kingsley.
Christ, I backed away from the telly when I first saw him in Sexy Beast!

Proper actor - Same bloke is Ghandi one day and that thing the next.

Being a movie "hard man" has nothing to do with a peacock physique.
The gym monkies mentioned by the OP don't come across as hard - they come across as cartoonish.

+1 for Eastwood and Bronson

Hard to me is all about attitude, not size. You need a pyschotic little nutter to make a convincing hard man. (for some reason Robert Carlyle comes to mind...)

Guy Pearce in "The Proposition"

Richard Harris "A man called Horse"

Sean Pertwee "Dog Soldiers" ok it's a comedy, but having your intestines shoved back in and glued and still shooting werewolves?!! FFS!! 😛

John Wayne " The Shootist" the best organised suicide ever.

Not hard as in tough but in spirit.(do you know what i'm trying to say?)

The gym monkies don't come across as hard - they come across as cartoonish.

that is the whole point - movie ie action 'hard man' take arnie, hard man playing fictional characters in story book like adventures fighting mythical creatures and aliens...

BUT... I totally agree - real hard men / people you really wouldn’t want to cross are totally different...

On that note... Clint and Tony Montana / Michael Corleone AKA Pacino get my vote.
