Can the folding nobby nic's be run tubeless or are they a pain to do like most panaracer folders are?

I couldn't get them to keep air with roval tubeless wheels and stans fluid. Bought USTs in the end. The 2011s are 'tubeless ready' IIRC though, so should be no trouble.

No problems here, with olympic rims and stans tape/fluid.
I did find that it worked best with an extra half measure of sealant and making sure you take time to evenly spread it about the tyre.

No issues with Double Defense Nics on DT Swiss 4.2, and now on Mavic Crossrides. I used NoTubes rim strips and sealant. Inflated okay with a trackpump and a short period of tubeless dancing.

I ghetto'd a 2.2 folding Nobby Nic. It was a pain to get it to seat, I had to use a compressor with the sealant already in, but it held air fine after that. I kept the pressure quite low at around 25-30psi.

It didn't last very long as one of the central nobbly bits was ripped off on the White's final descent covering me with latex fluid like a rubbish catherine wheel. If it hadn't been for that then I reckon it would have lasted well.

I've found it can be a bit of a hit and miss getting older schwalbe tires to mount without a compressor, but the 2011 models should be better in that regard. But from trying the new trailstar compound I would say you should definitely aim at getting one of the new ones. It grips almost as well as the soft GG compound, rolls as well as the harder compounds and does not turn hard in cold weather - Schwalbe really have a winner in their hands.

A friend got the new Nobby Nics with pacestar compound and said they are better then the old ones too.

Very risky IMHO - sidewalls are too thin on normal NN's

Well the new NN are marketed as tubeless ready, to me that means the manufacturer believes it will work in a ghetto set up.

I've always used Schwalbe tyres converted, Nics, Ralphs, Freds, Rons and Black Sharks. All have been great, now they're tubeless ready I wouldn't bother with anything else!
