A couple of us are heading to FOD on E-bikes on 16th September & we have heard there is a really good network of off piste trails in the area.

Any advise on how to locate said trails or perhaps an offer to tag a long with some like minded fellow bikers would be greatly appreciated ❤️

thanks - Martin

Last time I went I looked at Strava heatmaps in advance. Found loads of good stuff.

As mentioned in the thread, creating a loop is the difficult bit, or you end up doing a "climb and plummet" session , but not a terrible thing to do with an ebike.  I'd suggest if you've not been before, maybe doing the main FOD stuff then go south a bit and do the stuff by near the quarry works, as an easy "not gunna get too lost" type of ride?

Maybe Martin. Plans not finalized for that weekend between Antur or FoD, but maybe and could show plenty

Hoping to do Antur and Dyfi that weekend but if it falls through I could show you a few bits.

TBH there's enough really good riding in the waymarked stuff at cannop that I'd say go there personally. We've explored a bit further away over time (hence that thread Z1ppy linked!) but especially with e-bikes the ease of access and relative ease of navigation at sallowvalleys makes it pretty hard to look past, as a visitor. (the fireroad to the top is no fun on a pedalled bike imo, it's just that bit too steep but on an e-bike it looks fine- we've usually used the uplift just because you can get a ridiculous amount of runs in that way)

Though, are there still closures? There was a fair bit affected off the top when we were last there.

There's still closures currently yes. I noticed GBU and the new red which was Ski Run V2 were both taped off yesterday. We went away to play from there but as we were going past i'd spotted they were closed.

The weather this year ahead severely delayed all the trail building and maintenance at FoD this year - so I'd have though there's going to be some of the official trails closed throughout the year.

All the trails should be back open by the 14th, but might be put back. Between the centre and the stuff over the road to the south it's easy to fill a day and not get lost.
