As the title says- I don't want to de-tubeless my tyres for a flight over to Italy, can I just deflate the tyres to 15 psi or so? Or will it end in an explosion of tyres and stan's fluid all over my shiny new bike?
Any similar experiences? Ta!
I call hoax!
Either that or they photoshopped out the spooge.
Do dogs that fly in the cargo hold, the same as bicycles, explode?
dont run tubeless but never deflated my tyres for flying
never had a problem with tyres or plane exploding midflight
Hmm, what pressure are the dogs inflated to though? I thought i'd ask, as my other flights with bikes were deflated, tubed tyres. These are dual ply tyres, so I reckon it's worth a go?
Don't deflate them
If they insist just drop them down a bit
deflate them a little - say 10psi. That way they remain seated and will re-inflate easily with a pump. If you deflate them more then they can unseat, spew sealant and be a pain to re-seat once in your resort (and you can't carry CO2 to help in this respect...)
The pressure delta in the hold is normally 200mb (they run the hold / cabin at about 800 mb equiv to 2000m altitude), so a negligible affect on the tyre, just leave the fully inflated.
Exactly! The prospect of flogging away with a mini track pump was more than a tad unappealling. I reckon 10-15 psi with only a little sealant in will do it. Ta!
As long as you have less then 100ml of sealant in each tyre you should be fine.
I knew before I opened the thread that badger would be on there, but first reply - good work that man.
If you really want them to explode give them a couple of minutes in a microwave.
Just pump them up rock 'ard, that's what I did. Even if somehow you end up on Virgin Galactic by mistake, and they put it on the bike rack rather than in the hold, Space is only 14.7psi less than atmospheric.
