Guys,
I'm off to the Alps at the weekend, will be using flow rims with Spec Clutch front tyre and HR11 DP rear, both as tubeless.
I've got plenty of experience of mounting tubeless tyres on other rims and don't normally have a problem, and ive never used rim strips, just the yellow tape and valve, the loud pop as the tyre seats is quite reassuring.

Got these tyres inflated ok, fluid in and they are holding air fine, but there was no ping, infact the tyres seemed quite loose on the rims before I inflated them. I don't have the rim strips.
I'm sure the tyres are seated ok because the line in the side wall is even all the way round.

I know JRA say that you should use a rim strip for non UST tyres, these tyres are non UST, but do I really need the strips, or is it just marketing BS to get me to spend more money? Apprx £17 each.

The lack Ping is making me worried, don't really want to burb out all the air on the first ride of the trip.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Ben

I've only used yellow tape on my Flows with non ust schwalbe tyres and haven't had any burping yet and they didn't "ping".

My Bonty Mud-X made a ping, the High Roller on the front didn't. No issues.

Only used yellow tape and tried a good section of non UST tyres on Flows with no problems.

Great my mind is set to rest.
Guess I'm just a bit nervous about my first Alps trip.
